Battlefront II: Inferno Squad (Star Wars) Christie Golden read online review & book description:

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Set in the aftermath of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this action-packed prequel to the hotly anticipated videogame Battlefront II introduces the Empire’s elite force: Inferno Squad.

After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. But not for long. In retaliation, the elite Imperial soldiers of Inferno Squad have been called in for the crucial mission of infiltrating and eliminating the Partisans—the rebel faction once led by notorious Republic freedom fighter Saw Gerrera.

Following the death of their leader, the Partisans have carried on his extremist legacy, determined to thwart the Empire—no matter the cost. Now Inferno Squad must prove its status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But the growing threat of being discovered in their enemy’s midst turns an already dangerous operation into a do-or-die acid test they dare not fail. To protect and preserve the Empire, to what lengths will Inferno Squad go . . . and how far beyond them?

The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.

This is a really good book to read before playing Star Wars Battlefront II, but I did not get some parts.

I can hardly keep my phone in my backpack.
  • Really good

The book had more plot and depth than the games campaign. Good read and loved the imperial point of view.
  • Excellent Story, Minor Spelling Errors

The narrative that this story gives is extraordinary. You grow with the characters and feel like you have an connection with the Inferno Squad. When they laugh, you laugh. When they cry, you cry. This is undoubtably one of the best Star Wars novels written in recent history. My only qualm resides in the minor spelling and grammatical errors that I found while reading. While it does not detract from the story, it causes the story to pause as you try to decipher what it is that is being said.
  • A more worthwhile purchase than the game it's suppose to sell.

This EA Star Wars Battlefront 2 tie-in novel is way better than the actually game it's suppose to advertise. It does a great job of letting out see things from the Empire's point of view, why would someone willingly join a faction with obviously evil leaders like The Emperor or Darth Vader. It fleshes out the character just enough that you start to relate to them all, while keeping the action flowing and entertaining. If you're a SW fan, I'd honestly say skip the game and pick up the novel instead.
  • Amazing

It’s an awesome thrilling book that ties into the battlefront 2 campaign.
  • A page turn from the start!

This is a perfect prologue to the next battlefront game. Is was very hard to put the book down. This book made me even more hyped for the battlefront sequel and I'm so very happy I got to learn more about inferno squad and the characters it comprises Being a true Star Wars fan makes the experience of reading this book very satisfying Hope you are enjoy this book as much as I have.
  • Straight forward good book

No twists in the writing, straight forward, and to the point. Well written as good as any in the new canon. Needed some more reason to like all 4 members on inferno squad, but made enough of a story for the main protagonist.
  • Had potential, could've been better.

Not a terrible read, but the focus of the book turned from the forming of Inferno Squad to a soul-searching novel. The writer had good intentions in the beginning, and I felt it evened out the playing field as far as the Empire and rebels go. Most books portray the Empire as a bunch of idiots who can't aim, but this book put into perspective how the Empire actually has well trained troops and legit tactics and loyalist, not just everyone trying to jump ship to the rebellion. However, I felt this would have been a better book if written in the same style as the Republic Commando series or the Imperial Commando novel. Instead, what starts off as four Imperial spec ops agents trying to stop a rebel plot turns into a montage of references to the Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels series, as well as a "am I doing the right thing for the Empire?" soul search. And also not really as action packed as you would hope for something written geared towards a game called Battlefront.
