Growing Up Through the Eyes as a Marine in Wwii entails the story of John Teuchert who enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of twenty in 1942 and fought in the Second World War. He was among the troops in the operation in Mariana Islands, where he saw his fellow marines fall and die around him as they clash against the Japanese. Teuchert escaped death in Iwo Jima after a shell landed nearby, hitting him and his fellow marines, but he was seriously wounded, which marked the end of his combat.

Teuchert now has eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
