Being born on an Iowa farm in the middle of a depression in the ‘30’s is a humble way to begin life. Money was scarce, work was hard, and opportunities were few. Life was difficult. However, the riches of a family devoted to helping one another and working to make a go of the family farm developed a sense of oneness that overpowered the rigors of work. This was only possible because of the underlying foundation of a life lived on the premise that there was a God and that God had a plan for their life. His plan was slowly played out in a way that was exciting and unexpected, but wonderful. God gives strength and guidance when His plan is followed. Even though life has obstacles and challenges God reaches us and teaches us through His word. Peace can sound illusive in such situations but God’s perfect love and perfect plan conquers the heart and brings peace which passes understanding.
