Marigolds and Murder London Lovett read online review & book description:

Book 1 of the Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series.

Lacey 'Pink' Pinkerton has left behind a six-figure job and her reputation as the million dollar nose—a nickname her super sense of smell earned her within the perfume industry. With her pet crow Kingston and a tabby cat named Nevermore, she is settling right into her new life in the small coastal town of Port Danby. With a flower shop opening soon and a full cast of quirky neighbors and friends, her new digs are exactly what she's been looking for. Away from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city, Lacey has found peace and happiness. However, her heightened sense of smell proves to be of use once again when a Port Danby neighbor turns up dead. Lacey finds herself caught up in an unexpected murder investigation alongside the handsome local detective, James Briggs. She’s determined to find the killer and solve the murder mystery before any more bodies turn up.

I don’t usually gravitate to books that include “ghosts” but this set was easy to read. I enjoyed them from the beginning! Looking forward to more books.

A nice easy read. And it had an ending. Not like many of the free books. Don’t pass on this book if you like to read.
  • Engaging characters and good plot

This mystery introduces us to Lacey “Pink” Pinkerton, a florist with a super nose. She is fairly new to the town so we learn about her neighbors and the town happenings at the same time. The author gives us a great deal to like about Lacey; her former occupation (perfume industry), her cool pet crow and a cat, her curiosity, and a murder involving the contestants of the town’s annual giant pumpkin contest. Throw in a creepy house up the street that piques her curiosity, a rakish, handsome neighbor, a handsome, reserved police detective, that makes an intriguing and entertaining read.

I really enjoyed this cute cozy mystery. Lacey is an engaging protagonist. Detective Briggs is endearing with his little half smile, and the town of Port Danby is true to the small town atmosphere. Fun read. I recommend highly.
