Zane and the Steampunk Riders: Perfume Bandits Laura MacDonald read online review & book description:

The mud at Bad Bart's Organic Mud Spa stinks! So Bad Bart and Smedley P. Blatz plan to steal a shipment of perfume from the noon stage coach. Zane comes up with the perfect plan for the Steampunk Riders to stop the robbery, but when Cisco's latest invention sets off a buffalo stampede, everything goes awry. But that doesn't discourage Zane. He's used to it. Everything involving Sheriff Deputy always goes wrong but that only makes capturing the bad guys twice as fun. This fast-paced, gadget-filled and playful adventure story introduces Zane and the Steampunk Riders. Set in a Jules Verne-esque Wild West landscape and featuring inventive gadgets that young readers will recognize (sort of), this series follows Zane, his little sister Pepper Smithereens, their inventor friend Cisco, and Zane's hero, Sheriff Deputy, as they thwart the plans of the villainous Bad Bart and his evil pig, Smedley P. Blatz. Reluctant early readers, especially boys aged 5 to 8, will love reading this fun, full-color picture book with its laugh-out-loud illustrations and page-turning action.
