History reports Paul Gauguin as a selfish person who quit work as a banker and left his wife and children to fend for themselves while he indulged his ambitions to become a painter. Not True. Read the chapter on Paul Gauguin’s life and works.
In todays society, Paul would have been arrested long ago for being involved with the young girls he seemed to prefer. We should not forget that in fact it was the mother of his first young lady “friend” who insisted he take her daughter - forgetting to tell him that he than became responsible for her family!
Today most people care very little about the life style or Legend of the man, only that he created some stunning paintings.
I have stood in some of Europe's finest art galleries over the years and only art lovers know that feeling when stood in front of a masterpiece. Posters and prints are fine.. but they do not have that “buzz’ of the real painting hanging there in front of you.
Having seen many eBooks available from the many online publishers, most seem content have a photo image and a few words.
To give the best possible viewing experience, I have tried to recreate the art gallery!
The first obstacle not over come - yet - was frames. So they were eliminated to give unity and a greater image area on the small screen of an iPad. Also, as more and more art galleries ban photography in favour of selling DVD of their images, prints, books and poster, actually getting a descent image of any painting involves some searching and work. I hope our results offered for your viewing meet your approval.
